Who the Course is for?


City & Guilds ESOL Skills for Life All levels (Entry 1,2,3 and Level 1,2) qualifications are
designed to support speakers of other languages based within the UK in developing their
English language skills for work, further learning, or everyday life.

Course Content


The course aims to improve the language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking at
the appropriate level, relevant to a variety of everyday situations. A range of teaching
methods and styles are used, tailored to individual learning needs. Classes are held with a
maximum of 10 students.

  1. Listening Skills
    – Engaging audio recordings on various topics.
    – Practice understanding spoken English at different levels, from intermediate to advanced 1
  2. Reading Skills
    – Reading comprehension exercises.
    – Explore articles related to global issues, special days, and festivals.
    – Suitable for intermediate and upper intermediate learners 1.
  3. Speaking Skills
    – Socializing language: Learn how to converse in everyday situations.
    – Interactive practice: Engage in discussions, role-plays, and group activities.
    – Pronunciation improvement: Focus on clear speech and intonation.
  4. Writing Skills
    – Effective writing techniques: Learn to express ideas coherently.
    – Grammar and vocabulary: Enhance your written communication.
    – Structured sentences: Develop grammatically correct writing 2.
  5. Cultural Awareness
    – Understand cultural nuances and idiomatic expressions.
    – Explore British culture through reading and listening materials.
  6. Self-Study Resources
    – Access short activities (5-10 minutes) or delve into longer learning materials (15-30 minutes).
    – Choose from video zones, audio zones, magazine articles, and engaging stories 1.
  7. Apps and Interactive Learning
    – Use fun and exciting learning apps to improve your English skills.
    – Games, podcasts, videos, and quizzes designed for all ages and levels 1.

Monday to Wednesday 9:30am to 1:30pm for free courses

Cost of classes


Free for those on benefits, Universal Credited who have right to work and seeking work

Qualification


City & Guilds ESOL at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 (optional)
